The Experts at Work Write, Inc.

Cheryl Lockett Zubak (Cheri) is president of Work Write, Inc. and chief architect on all user assistance projects. Cheri is coauthor of Designing Windows 95 Help: A Guide to Creating Online Documents and is currently working on a book on HTML-based help design. An accomplished, popular speaker on help design and development, you can hear Cheri at many user assistance conferences, including the industry's premier event, the WinWriters Help ConferenceThis link opens an external page not located on workwrite.com. Because of her in-depth knowledge of HTML-based help development, Microsoft named Cheri as one of the four charter members, internationally, of the MVP (Most Valuable Professional) program for HTML Help, the new Microsoft development environment for creating HTML-based help and online reference information. She was also voted by her peers as "Best Speaker or Instructor" and "All Time, All Around Help Guru" at the Help Authors Choice Awards.

You may have heard of Cheri's partner, Ralph Walden, who is practically a household word in the online help community. Ralph is best known as Microsoft's lead developer for WinHelp and HTML Help. He began working on online help systems for Microsoft in 1987 with the creation of QuickHelp. In 1992, he took over the development of WinHelp, producing WinHelp 4.0 and Help Workshop. In 1996, he began creating the largest team Microsoft has ever put on a help project, and was the system architect for HTML help. Upon leaving Microsoft, Ralph founded KeyWorks Software and teamed up with Cheri at Work Write, Inc. He and Cheri are currently working together on technologies to support Work Write, Inc. development efforts, particularly to support HTML-based help design and building help into the product interface. They've also codeveloped some free utilities to support HTML Help and Internet Explorer-based user assistance development. You can see some of these tools at our tools website, http://www.keyworks.net.

Marc Reed, our creative director, puts the character into Work Write, Inc. projects. He's the extraordinary artist who has been putting the face on the Work Write, Inc. website since 1996, a face so inviting and recognizable that Marc's work is commented on in almost every guest form filled out on this website. Marc has won a slew of awards for his art, but he's also has plenty of experience in user interface design, particularly on the Web. Marc's too busy to speak at conferences. We keep him chained to his desk. :-) (By the way, you can check out Marc's online portfolio at http://www.marcreed.com.)
